Japan is a nation in East Asia composed of more than 6,800 islands in the Pacific Ocean. It is bounded by the Sea of Japan and has borders with China, Korea, and Russia. The country has complex relief, is bordered by the sea and ocean, and also has gorged and plain territories. It is a sovereign island country in East Asia, with approximately 126 million people and one of the largest economies globally. Science, technology, and industry have churned out internationally renowned firms in categories such as automobile production, electronics, and robot-making. There are findings from history, religion, and social practices that seem to dictate the Japanese culture as one that highly values tradition and balance. Japan’s political structure follows a constitution of monarchy headed by an Emperor for symbolic and ceremonial purposes, along with the Japanese Parliament, commonly known as the Diet, in which general elections are held in Japan. Japan is a modern and highly developed country that has a deep history and a rather ambiguous place in East Asia.
